Welcome to Mountain Tae Kwon Do

Joseph Difiglia is the Master Instructor at Mountain Tae Kwon Do Academy.  He holds a 6th degree Black Belt and has studied martial arts since 1968.  He began his training in Totokon Karate under Toyotoro Myasaki in Queens, NY, and continued under Master Y.K. Park in 1971. In his continuing effort to provide the very best training at Mountain Tae Kwon Do, Master Difiglia has spent significant time in South Korea where he trained with Buddhist Monks and their students.  Today,  30 years later, Master Difiglia continues to strive towards helping his students achieve their goals in the martial arts.   He is dedicated to helping all those practitioners at Mountain Tae Kwon Do be the very best that they can be not only in the martial arts, but in their personal lives as well.

Why Tae Kwon Do?

Tae Kwon Do is a martial art with Korea as its soul of origin.  It is a sport as well as an efficient system of self-defense.  From its ancient beginnings it has evolved into a complete fitness program, which provides all those who practice the opportunity to  achieve human excellence.  I have practiced Tae Kwon Do for almost 30 years.  I can truly say each individual is effected in their own unique way.  It is apparent that at a time when family values are becoming more important to our society, that Tae Kwon Do nurtures these values with the development of true friendships and a compassion for one another.  We must consider ourselves fortunate that we have the opportunity to be a part of a growing family of people concerned about their quality of life and doing something about it.  May we all work hard to achieve our individual goals while helping each other in the process.
